Re: STARTUP FAILURE

Hi,

The 24 character error code will be a Smart or Disk Self Test failure - in either case, it would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.

If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.

If you live in the US, contact HP Here.

If you are in another part of the world, start Here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know.

Regards,

DP-K

Re: recovory for envy dv6-7210us

I have a HP Envy dv6- 7210us laptop. The hard drve failed and I didn't make any back up disks. So I orderd a set from HP. I bought a new hard drive insatlled it into the computer. When trying to reinstall the operating system an error came up stating

"Recovery not supporeted under current configuration. Please enable acceleration option for Intel Smart response

Technology and try again."

How do I do this? All I seem to find on how to do this is to change the settings in the bios but my bios doesn't have any thing to change?

Where to find windows8 product key

This is NOT official HP Customer Support and I, as most other persons on this forum, do not work for HP. This is a peer-to-peer user supported forum for HP consumer class products. HP maintains no official presence on this forum and it is unlikely that HP will respond in an official capacity. Any reply from an HP employee represents their own opinion and not that of HP's.

Your computer most likely shipped with Windows 7 Pro installed from the factory and a set of Windows 8/8.1 Pro Restore Discs. This is a common configuration for business computers. Before using the Windows 8/8.1 discs, you should have created a set of Windows 7 Restore/Recovery Discs.

OEM computers that ship with Windows 8/8.1 no longer contain a Microsoft COA with product key. Instead, the key is encrypted and embedded in the BIOS/CMOS.

Since it appears that you have a business class computer, your question may be better answered in the HP Enterprise Business Community. You may also consider contacting the HP Business Support Center to request assistance with your issue.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
