Internet Connection

Hi

I have a new Envy TouchSmart 15-j051sa and experiencing problems with my internet connection.  I have read countless osts within support and tried everything.  I have totally reinstalled Windows 8.1, have the lastest drivers, Bios, etc.  I have another older laptop that I can use in the same location (with less power) and it has no problems at all.

I use a BT home hub router.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

b005ea - Slow WiFi/Network?

I recently over the past 2 months purchased a refurbished HP b005ea Ultrabook from one of the main computer suppliers, i've been happy overall with the Ultrabook but the wireless connectivity is shamelessly poor.

I am on 120mb internet with Virgin Media UK and i am using the Superhub 2. Even if my laptop is 1-2 feet away from the router the WiFi connection can be sketchy at best. But while i maintain around 2-3 bars when i do a speedtest i am only recieving about 30mbps which is obviously an issue.

It's on the 2G channel, and i've tried the other recommended channels but it doesn't help. Regardless of the wireless connection, the wired connection isn't really amazing either. If i connect it via cable, i get about 70-80mpbs, whereas my other devices get 120-125mbps, so even still it feels very restricted.

Back onto the wireless connection, the reception in other rooms (ie downstairs) is significantly poorer. This is understandable for the distance, but i purchased a TP-Link WA850RE. The TP-Link improved it slightly but not massively even though the signal on the TP-Link was strong.

The current drivers i have seemingly are the very latest, but it's still restricted.

I am wondering if i maybe should buy a USB WiFi device which goes upto 300mbps - As the network capability is only about 100mbps, so i don't know. Would updated drivers work - But i can't find any?

HP2000 update of Qualcomm AR9485 driver on connections

My machine is a hp 2000 notebook product number e0m17uar.  It was working fine with the win 8.1 upgrade and gthen I got updates from HP.  A;pparently one of them was for the Qualcomm Artheros AR9485 driver.  I was on the web and as it installed I lost my wifi connection.  I have tried loading the old driver and the new ones but nothing gives me any wifi connections.  The adapter reports tghat is working but no connections appear.  I really don't want to blow gthe whole system away and start with win 8.0 and do all the updating and software reinstalls if it can be avoided.  HELP

HP Compaq 420 Wireless Adapter Does Not Detect Any Connections but other devices does.

Hii , I have couple of suggesstions you can check to diagose the problem with wireless.

First make sure in device manager is device if wireless network driver is installed if not and you can not find or match the right driver you can open the back panel and check the manufacture of wireless card it self and download the latest driver either searching on google or maufacturte website many times it intel and you can download the driver driectly from instel website   or broadcom im sure this works.

Once driver is installed make sure you have switch on the wireless button look on your top functions keys you have to hold the Fn Key + press the  appropiate key from top functions key buttons to  turn the wireless card on functions keys should have wireless symbol on it .

Good luck let me know if still does not work or get me back with your wirless card model no which can be found opening the back panel i will download the driver or send you the link , Goood Luck

My HP Probook 4540s won't connect to the public WiFi!

Kaitynom,

Welcome to the HP Forum.

In addition to the suggestions made by Dunidar,  please consider the following:

The "error" messages you are seeing might simply indicate that the WiFi to which you want to connect requires the name of the network -- and perhaps a password, although depending on the situation, having the name of the network may be enough.

For example, if you are attending a class or conference in a particular location within Campus, then whomever is providing the class or conference may have a local Wifi connection made available for those in attendance.   To keep "just anyone" from connecting, the providers may require that you know the name of their WiFi network -- and again, perhaps a password as well.

This "sign-in" method is also used at hotels, hospitals, and some dining establishments.

Ask the conference manager, the professor, another student about connection requirements.

The next thing you need to do is make sure your computer is "available" to connect using an outside connection.  This usually just means that when you are home (for example) and using your home network that you are NOT forcing the computer to use a Static IP address -- if you do not know what that means, it is unlikely something you need to worry about -- assigning a Static IP address is a deliberate change; most home networks just run on DHCP and let the home router or modem take care of assigning addresses.

Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up!

It is a nice way to say “Thank You" for the help.

Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.

Kind Regards,

{Elitebook 2540p} Enable wifi while connected to ethernet

Hi:

Go into the BIOS.  I am not familiar with the exact menus in the 2540p BIOS, but if there is a device configuration menu, find the LAN/WLAN Switching option and set it to Disabled.

Somewhere there is a LAN/WLAN switching setting to enable or disable.

The theory is that if the notebook is connected to an ethernet cable, then the wireless is not necessary and visa versa, so the settings default is Enabled.

limited internet connectivity

I have a hp pavilion TS 14 notebook PC, I only bought it in Jan this year.

HP Pavilion 15 N-222sa won't connect to wireless internet unless under 5 meters away

I purchased this HP laptop just over a week ago and since then have had issues with its connectivity. When i am close to the wireless router the internet connects fine and i have access to fast internet with no issues. If i am more than 5m from the router the internet is extremely slow or will not connect at all. I would expect the laptop to at least be able to access the internet from every room in the house. I have tried resetting the internet, restarting the laptop and nothing changes... can this be fixed, if so how do i fix it

Re: HP Pavillion Sleekbook TS 14 recovery/crash

Trying to help my friend whose daughter crashed her PC.

Started with a virus that wouldn't allow it to connect or barely function. Tried anti-virus and malware programs but the computer was running so slow it couldn't even make it through a scan without crashing and freezing.

Finally decided to use HP recovery manager... everything was going fine during a full factory reset when the computer did an auto reboot but never came back on.

Tried turning it on to find the blue screen message stating a required device isn't connected or can't be accessed, etc.

Error code 0XC0000185.

Was able to get to the BIOS, etc but not windows. Ran the diagnostics memory and HD tests and all tests passed.

The "Born on Date" in system info is 12/25/2013 and they just bought it not long ago, but I don't think they registered it as when I did the waranty search nothing came up.

They seem pretty oblivious and do not remember if they have a recover USB drive, and it doesn't have a CD drive.

I have all the information from the system info screen... not sure where to go from here. Not sure why it would crash after what seemed like a perfectly ran recovery, and worried about having them order a recover USB in case it continues to happen. Advice? Thoughts?

Tried running recovery again by pressing F11 on boot, but it brings it to the same screen, seems all I can access is the BIOS menu and system info area.

Hp Envy dv6-7300ex Subwoofer not working!

So basically, I've tested the audio quality on Windows 8 and it was exceptionally good, rich bass..........loud clear sound. However, ever since I upgraded to Windows 8.1 I've noticed that on the speakers the audio quality is very very poor, the Subwoofer is not working, or so it seems that way, and there is no enhancement tab in the audio properties. I also did notice that for some reason my audio is being limited by the driver or some other software (possibly beastsaudio) as seen in the image below:

beast.png

While in reality it should be something similar to this. Note this is when the headphones have been plugged in:

Please if someone can help me fix these problems I'll be much obliged. Thank You in advance!

Re: HP High Definition Audio Device Code 10 Error Causing HDMI Sound Problem

Hey guys, my laptop is an HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC, running Windows 8.1.

When I connect my laptop to my LG Smart TV through HDMI, I cant change the playback device to play the sound from the TV. The HDMI option does not appear in ¨Sound¨.

When I look in Device Manager, under Sound, video and game controllers; the High Definition Audio CODEC has an error which says (Device status):

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

I have tried reinstalling and updating the drivers, cleaning and defraging the registry, optimizations etc.

I followed steps from other posts with similar problem as mine and nothing seems to work, I do not want to reinstall my windows just for this! I am running out of options, I tried everything I could for the past week. I would really appreciate some expert advice.

Thanks!

Re: My pc don't have sound

Hi GonzaloCampo,

One thing I would check would be to see if you are getting any sound when using headphones. If you don't then it is definitely a hardware issue and you would need to have someone take a look at it. You can call HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or outside of North America use this link.

Thank you,

No sound on my Envy

Hi,

Try the following.

First of all, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.

Then download the IDT HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder,

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT Audio device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

Next, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.

Chipset Driver - Windows 8.1

When the reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook by holding down the Left Shift key as you click on Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot, then unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.

Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT HD Audio installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers/HP' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Regards,

Re: HP ENVY 15 TOUCHSMART (Beats) - Audio Stutter/Fluctuations HELP!!

Hi,

I brought a refurbished HP Envy 15-J053CL from the US that was manufactures refurbish and came with the HP tape and everything inside and was so pleased with the product until it came to watching movies, which i do ALOT! (Mostly using head phones). I have checked and the warrenty is still void until April 2014 but would just like a solution instead of waiting weeks for the problem to be solved, I have lots of Uni work to do as i graduate this year.

First I noticed the fluctuations, then when i had the volume set lower it would stutter, leave out some of the background noise or raises in the volume. I thought i was my head phones on the way out however i never experiened this before with those headphones (Apple).

Ive looked all over the forums and tried so many "solutions" and read so many different problems with this issue and now i would like a solution to what ever is causing mine. Ive tried updating the driver, closing off the BEATS application, installing earlier drivers and nothing seams to work.

For a computer that boasts about the "audio quality" being in line with that of BEATS, doesnt really look good, I am yet to experience good audio.

PLEASE HELP ME... PRETTY PLEASE :smileyhappy:

The Vista driver below should work or Windows Update should download it once you connect to the internet and run updates.

Sound not working in my hp-2000-2d29DX notebook pc

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the Realtek HD Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64443.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the Realtek device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the Realtek HD Audio installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Regards,

DP-K

Re: HP Pavillion g6 Notebook PC - Audio no longer working after Windows 8.1 upgrade

Hi

Product Name: HP Pavillion g6 Notebook PC

Operating System: Windows 8.1 (just upgraded)

Description: There is an audio issue. Sound does not work at all. Issues include:

iTunes error message: iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/video playback may not operate properly

youTube issues: a video will play for 1 second, and then display error message

THe F9/F10/F11 buttons make no changes to the Audio settings

When I click the Sound button (which is currently muted), the Playing Audio window opens stating that Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.

This has only occurred since I upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 this week.

The Audio and Sound settings in HP Support Assistant are:

IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

Status: (52)

Driver: stwrt64.sys

Version: 6.10.6425.0

AMD High Definition Audio Device

Status: (52)

Driver: AtihdW86.sys

Version: 8.0.0.8808

Thanks for your help

Phil

Re: Hp Probook 450 G0 overheat on Linux system.

Hi Jonny-Hurt,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your Hp Probook 450 G0 Notebook and having issues with your graphics controller. Here is a link to AMD detection tool. I recommend uninstalling the drivers and software and then going to the link to install the latest right from AMD.

If that does not help to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a
commercial product. You can do this here.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Re: HP 510 NOTEBOOK PC drivers for windows 7 ultimate 32 bit

abozgul wrote:

I have installed windows 7 ultimate Bit os , but , all drivers are disappeared ,How can find video driver, wireless network drivers and sound drivers .

What was the original operating system?

Sorry, but there is no support for Windows 7 available for your notebook.

I suggest that you download and run CPU-z to find some information about your notebook's chipset and graphics onboard. Post it here. You will also need to post the wireless network adapter and sound chip PCI\VEN information.

Your chpset is either a Intel 915GM or Intel 910GML.

Southbridge is ICH-6M

Graphics is onboard.

Wireless is a mini-PCI module. You will have to identify it. It is in the same compartment as the memory module(s) remove the cover and memory module to see and identify the module.

Audio is Conexant CX20468

How to use the Device Manager to identify devices without drivers:

Click on the device you want to identify  and select Properties>Details>Hardware ids Write down the 4 characters after: VEN_(example:1002) and after DEV_(example :AA01)

pciven.png

Once you have done this, you can check in the PCI\VEN database to identify the manufacturer and device. When you have that information you can begin Googleing for the drivers for Windows 7 32-bit.

You have found the down side of installing an unsupported OS. It does take work. :smileyhappy:

Best regards,

erico

Re: Old program compatibility.

I recently purchased an Envy i7 with the HD 4600 graphics.  The machine is running on Windows 8.1.

I've tried to run a couple of old Command & Conquer games (Renegade and Tiberian Sun) without success.  I've gone through all the options available within the Compatibiliy utility.

Both programs attempt to load, but won't play.  Renegade runs the main screen, but when you click on "Play," a window appears asking you to insert the game disk, which is already in the machine.  Tiberian Sun goes through the norman pre-load graphics, but when the main screen appears, there's no menu present.  Any ideas?

Net of a solution, would Virtual PC be of any use if I obtained a full feature edition of Windows XP?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Windows 7 on Hp Pavilion g6 2385 eg

Hi:

You can use all of the W7 x64 drivers and software from this model.

For the graphics, you only install the AMF graphics driver which will install the drivers for both the Intel and AMD gpu's.

DO NOT USE ANY BIOS OR FIRMWARE DOWNLOADS FROM THIS LINK

Re: My laptop can't run Windows 7

Hello,

I would try to help you with your issue. In your last posts about 4 hours ago you mentioned that

This problem started when I removed the primary hard drive cover and clean the internal parts with a blower, I didn't extracted nothing, only the cover

The issue seems hardware related because of this, perhaps something went wrong when you did this. Generally speaking only technicians in HP authorized service centers should do such things because they are aware of all the things in the HP computers.

I would recommend you bring your machine to the nearest HP Authorized service center and let the technicians check it. It may be or may not be hardware related.

If it is software related, I would recommend you use the recovery as already mentioned above.

If hardware related - the technicians can fix it for you.

If you are not sure where such a center is located, contact HP support and ask for the location -> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

P.S.

I sincerely apologise for the delay in response but HP experts (HP employees and non-employees) and any other user post here in the forum in their free time as volunteers. I am in EMEA time zone and I was very busy yesterday.

Re: Need Windows 7 64 bit drivers for Hp pavilion G6 2301ax

Anytime, Gus.

If you want to experiment, perhaps I have an idea...I don't like giving up that easy.

Download the AMD Beta driver below that verification tool file at the link below.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/mobile?os=Windows 7 - 64

Don't run it or anything.

Now download and install the free 7-zip file utility.

http://7-zip.org/

After you install 7-zip, right click on the amd beta driver you downloaded and select the 7-zip utility and select the option to extract the file to a folder.

I did this earlier and there is a driver for your graphics adapter in there, so I hope this works.

For starts, just open the folder so I can show you what I am looking at.

Go to $_OUTDIR\Packages\Drivers\Display\WB6A_INF\and you will see 3 setup information files.

Now, this is where we may just going to have to try by trial and error.

I think the file you need is the one named CU165580.

I think that because I ran the exe files next to those and on the first one, I got an install for Vista, the second one, an install for W8, and the 3rd one didn't show anything, but I will assume it is for W7.

Now just click on the CU165580 driver setup information file and scroll almost to the bottom and you will see the 7420G graphics adapter listed 7th from the bottom.

So, now that you have seen the file and the list of devices supported by it, it is time to try and install it manually.

Go to the device manager and click to expand the display adapters category. Click on the Radeon vga adapter.

Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.  Select the Browse my computer for software method and then select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Select Have Disk, and browse to that CU165580 setup information file and select the AMD Radeon HD 7420G graphics adapter from the list, and see if the driver will install that way.

Now, if for some reason that doesn't work, I would uninstall all of the amd radeon drivers and software, reboot and try the above method again.

You may even want to reinstall W7 all over since you now have all of the drivers and use this process second after installing the chipset driver and see if you get a good install.

Good luck, and may you have a great New Year as well!

Best Regards,

Paul

Re: bios administrator password

Re: esadvremintegrator has stopped working

I am checking my programs and features list to uninstall HP Advisor and HP Advisor is not in the list.

So I ran msconfig and checked my startup. Again, HP Advisor is not in the list.

So now what?

Windows sucks.

Any computer shouldn't have an annoying popup like this at all. I'm sick and tired of Windows and it's continuous problems.

Help a **bleep** out so I don't have to see this **bleep** popup every 30 minutes.

Re: i couldnt find any drivers for windows 8

The first thing to do is use Windows snipping tool in Windows 7 to capture the devices that make up your notebook. This way you won't have to through the hassle of getting the hardware ids for every device when Windows 8 is installed.

I did this for my current HP product loan Envy Spectre 13t-3000 CTO Touchsmart Ultrabook in the two images below.

Spectre_DevMan1.PNG

Spectre_DevMan2.PNG Once you have done that, you know what is installed. You also know by looking at the image, which manufacturer's websites you need to visit to try to find the Windows 8 drivers for the devices. You can also post the images here so we can help you find the drivers.

You also need to share which chipset and CPU is in your notebook. Share  the version of Windows 8 (32 or 64-bit) you will be installing with us as well.
